Show Day with the Blue Devils
Registration 1:00 PM, Ralph Wilson Fieldhouse, Front Foyer. Groups please RSVP by calling: (716) 504-7751
Directions for parking: Abbott Rd to One Bills Drive, Parking will be in the Fieldhouse Lot.
Participants must have a ticket to the evening competition in order to partake in the clinic.
From Pat Seidling, Director of Educational Programming for the Blue Devils:
“Upon registration, there will be a quick "over-view of the day" talk and Q&A session. Participants will then be given a T-shirt and a booklet with schedule and "factoids" about the corps.
The Blue Devils and participants will then split up - brass with brass, drums with drums, guard with guard, DMs with DMs for an hour or so, then ALL into the stadium for the ensemble session.
The Blue Devils will NOT be able to incorporate reed instruments into warm-up.
Brass players will get a chance to do brass warm-up exercises with the corps - on their own instruments or - if the wish - grab a members horn for a quick turn. Reed players of course can take a shot at trying a BD horn, if they ever want to consider learning, or at least see what it may feel like to hold one. In that hour or so session, attendees will be involved playing with the Blue Devils for 2 or 3 exercises.
The Blue Devils have plenty of guard equipment for all to try!
Percussionists: The Blue Devils DO NOT encourage participants to bring their own drums; sticks and mallets are fine…. please do trust that the 1 hr drum session will be very informative, impressive, interactive and worth everyone's time.
During the ensemble block select volunteers will be allowed on the field to shadow staff members and some will even stand inside formations as the corps runs segments of the show.
Thanks for your support of this endeavor and I am certain the corps - and this very interactive clinic - will provide a positive experience for everyone! “
