How can you make an incredible line-up even more incredible? How about adding the six time DCI World Champion Santa Clara Vanguard! That's right, DATW has secured yet another "headliner," the corps that exudes class and excellence, the Vanguard from Santa Clara, CA. Vanguard Executive Director Jeff Fiedler stated the clincher for the appearance was the opportunity to perform at Ralph Wilson Stadium, the past home to three DCI World Championships.

DATW continually strives to assist WNY kids to achieve their dreams of marching with drum corps through scholarship. A recent recipient of DATW's commitment to youth, education and the arts is Ben Berry, who currently is a member of The Cadets. Ben hails from Buffalo, NY and is currently in his third year at Ithaca College majoring in Music Education. Ben has studied percussion with Robert Zolnowski, Conrad Alexander, and Gordon Stout. Prior to marching with The Cadets, he marched with DCA's Empire Statesmen as a part of their tenor line. A member of The Cadets since the 2008 season, Ben is part of the front ensemble and has the privilege of performing under the instruction of Neil Larrivee, Iain Moyer, and Jason Inhat. According to Ben, "Marching in The Cadets has been an experience beyond words. The friendships, lessons learned, and performances in front of tens of thousands of people are worth way more than the tour fees." Ben looks forward to the promising year ahead at The Cadets. While at home, Ben is the front ensemble instructor for the Lancaster High School marching band. Outside of music, Ben loves to play tennis, downhill ski, and hang out with friends.

The economy got you down? Fight the blues with the Blues! Drums Along the Waterfront is thrilled to announce for its August 2nd, 2009 line-up the appearance of the Blue Devils (Concord, CA). The "NY Yankees" of the activity, the Blue Devils have finished in the top five corps in the world for the last 27 consecutive years, and have won the DCI World Championship title an unprecedented 12 times!

Bluecoats Drum Line

"They say 13 is an unlucky number, but not for us; this is the first time in 13 years we have been able to bring the Blue Devils to Drums Along the Waterfront and to our faithful fans," states Jack Gaylord Jr., President of Drums Along the Waterfront Inc. "This is a major coup for Western New York!"

Facing off against the Blue Devils will be last year's Drums Along the Waterfront champion, the Bluecoats (Canton OH), as well as the fan favorite Madison Scouts (Madison, WI) and the ever popular Boston Crusaders (Boston MA). See Corps page for complete line-up.
